ALS, 1852 March 7 : Natchez, California, to his brother in New England.

The miner tells of some small strikes he has made, and of larger strikes nearby by other miners. But he has made no fortune, and will "come home in the fall money or no money." He describes a murder and an investigation by the Vigilance Committee involving whites, Indians, Mexicans, and blacks. He includes political news, and the location of the state capitol at Benicia because of Vallejo.
